My Philosophy
When I first started studying nutrition, I was looking for answers: answers to questions about the "perfect" diet and solving all of life’s problems through one restrictive way of eating or another. Through my education and my subsequent experience as a nutrition practitioner, I have learned that there is no one perfect way to do anything!
My goals for my clients are that they have peace with themselves and how they relate to food while confidently (and as easily as possible) managing any medical or lifestyle realities they experience. If this sounds good, please get in touch!
My Story
I first became interested in studying nutrition when my infant son was diagnosed with a food allergy. As a nursing mother, I had to modify my diet, using only information that I could find myself. At the time, I thought that more resources for this type of situation would be really helpful. All I wanted to do was feed my baby and not hate the food I was eating, and I was sure there were other mothers just like me.
Several years later, while teaching fitness classes, I was asked many nutrition questions that were outside my scope of practice as a fitness professional. As I looked for ways that I could responsibly help my clients, I came across a range of nutrition certificates and degree programs. I remembered the days when I had wanted to show mothers that they could eat in a way that supported their babies’ needs as well as satisfy their own. And I myself was leaning more into plant-based eating. All of this interested me! If I wanted to help people with lots of different issues, becoming a registered dietitian nutritionist was the perfect path to take.
So, for five years I attended classes and completed a comprehensive internship program. During that time, my son (then in middle school) began to get more serious about sports and had nutrition questions of his own, which I was thrilled to be able to answer. When I passed the registration examination for dietitians, I started my private practice. And here we are!
